Some readers don't think twice about the authors of the books they like to read. Other people care a lot. One aspect of this subject that is getting significant attention in reading circles is readers who pay attention to the voices read --- of the thirty books read this year, are 29 by American males? Of those American males, are all of them white? It's interesting to see which voices we read. Looking back to our book list that began in 2002, I find:
Author's Nationality
United States: 37 books
Canada: 31 books
United Kingdom: 15 books
Australia: 4 books
Spain: 2 books
and one each for: Chile, Ireland, France, Iran, India, Portugal, New Zealand, Columbia, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Italy, and Egypt.
Author's Gender
Female: 56%
Male: 44%
Author's Race
White: 85%
Other (Africa, Asia, Indigenous): 15%
